In Memory

Had he lived, my father would be celebrating his 57th wedding anniversary with my mother today.

Instead, I went with my mother to the crematorium, along with two of my boys, to visit the place where we scattered his ashes. Afterwards, a meal and a toast. Though knowing my father he'd rather have a meal of toast.

My mother has not remarried nor had any interest in any other man. She loved him and will love him until she dies.

That is the kind of devotion that is so lacking in today's world.

In his memory, here's something that always made him laugh, no matter how often he saw it.

Thinking of you and your mum, Martin.

It's good to appreciate and honor those we've lost, like your dad. I know just what you mean about people today not appreciating the importance of sticking it out through good and bad times. Everyone's spoiled these days and imagines their lives should be great all the time. They have a selfish and unrealistic view of the world. I liked the vid. It was a bit strange for my American ears though!
