Sometimes when writing, or doing anything for that matter, you just have to keep going. You might not reach your target, but if you stop you'll never reach it.
A friend of mine has got a publishing contract after several yers of trying. There have been times over the past few months that she's doubted herself, but she's kept going and is now nearing the end of the first edit. She could have given up at any point, and there are days when she still feels like giving up, but she hasn't. In October, the book will be published. She kept going.
At work, a store I've been dealing with has had multiple I.T. problems with their tills, printers and PCs for the past six months. There have been times when I've wanted to drive over to the store, take a large axe to the whole shebang and start from scratch. But, between the manager and myself, we've got the place up and running to the point where instead of only three out of eight tills working, we have them all working with just a network printer to be linked to two of them. We didn't give up.
It's a cliche, but it's true. Your dreams may not come true, your goal may not be attained if you carry on, but if you stop, they never will.
See you on Friday.
