I Blame Easter

A day late, but only because my brain thinks it's Tuesday today, after having a day off work on Monday as it was Easter Monday.

I had a look at my stats on Amazon today to see how many books I'm selling. So far this month...three. Thing is, I seem to be selling at about three per month at the moment, earning me a princely sum of £3-£5 each month. not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but considering that this time last year I wasn't selling on a regular basis at all, it's quite a step up.

Add into that I have done NO advertising at all, and it becomes more remarkable.

All of which gives me a lift. Not because I'm earning enough every month to buy a ready meal (whoop-de-doo-da), but because I'm earning regularly. It's another step up the publishing ladder.

When I started writing, and then self-publishing, I knew it was going to be a long haul, and it has been eight year long haul so far. The steps have been rocky, there have been highs and lows, good news and bad news, but I am now at the point where I am earning an income from writing. Not much, but it is steady.

I'm still working on book three and am two thirds of the way through the first draft, some of which I added on Sunday as work was so quiet. I'm also doing my book reviews and learning about how to write from those books (and how not to from others).

Writers are never overnight successes, and I may never even become one of those successes, but I am growing week by week.

Who knows where I'll be next year. I don't.

If you're not really advertising then three people are buying your book each month based only on reviews and word of mouth. Considering how crowded the marketplace is, I'd say that's pretty impressive!

I have to agree with Chloe. I think a lot of writers would like to be in those shoes.
