A Competition

Alriiiiiiiiiight.  The books are here and I'm gonna give three away to some lucky people.

The Prize: A paperback copy of 'A Stitch In Time'.

How to enter: Answer a Question

Rules: 1 - Answer the question in the comments below.  2 - It's open to anyone, wherever in the world you are.  I'll post it to Antarctica if that's where you're living at the moment.  3 - Entries close at midnight, British Summer Time, on Sunday 2nd September 2012. 4 - My decision is final.

Winner Selection Procedure:  All names will be put in a hat and three names will be drawn out by my son...who is open to bribery from anyone who wants to buy him a crate of beer.

I gave some thought to the question last week and wanted it to be related to time and space.  With the death of Neil Armstrong over the weekend, I've decided to make it about his, and NASA's, achievement of getting to the moon and back.

The Question: What was the date Neil Armstrong took humanity's first walk on the moon?

Please write your answer in the comments section below.

With that, I'll leave the last word to Neil Armstrong.

That's too easy! July 20th, 1969. I remember exactly where I was when I saw it all happen, live on TV. A most amazing moment.

Bish: Entry number 1. It's a pity that event hasn't been followed up.

Bro: Come and have go!

Emily: Then Google it. There's no rules against that.

depends what time you are going on as it happened at about 03.00am GMT so for us it was 21st of July 1969 but for the Americans it was 20th of July 1969.

I knew it was Summer of 1969 (like the song).

July 21, 1969 was the date when he actually stepped foot onto the moon after Apollo landed on the late evening of the 20th.

Just to stir the pot, I'm going to say Never. It was a hoax and that's why it hasn't been repeated. (Does everybody hate me yet?) LOL.

According to my brother, it never happened! LOL But like Fox Mulder, I believe. The 60s were many things, both wonderful and atrocious. Neil Armstrong contributed to the wonderful.

We were showed a video on high school about all the evidence that 'proved' we never landed on the moon.

Hmm...

EA: All writers need to do research.

Maci: Welcome to the competition.

Lucy: Allowance will be made for the different time zones.

Jay: A Brian Adams fan?

Shell: HERETIC! :)

Jeff: I look forward to the next time it occurs.

Kelley: You could always enter the date of the fake landing as your guess.

Chris: Sure? ;)

Hey,

Without Googleing at the other comments or googling online, I'm going to say July 19, 1969. (I was two months old and me ma pushed me in front of the telly as I lay in the pram.) She said this would be an historic day and I had to see it for myself :)

The actual step onto the moon took place on July 21st 1969. It was the day I returned home after completing my college course so quite a memorable day all round.
