I spend a lot of time, maybe too much, working on my openings: chapters, lines paragraphs etc.

I will write, rewrite and rewrite again until I'm happy with it. And that's before I get started on the rest of the novel.

How much time do you take over your openings?

I was just thinking about this the other day and planning on doing a post about it. I get way too caught up in my first paragraph trying to make it just right so I've been trying to just get down what's easiest and move on. I can always come back later.

I was going to comment on this earlier but I am just BLAH today. I think it's best to just write, write, write... then go back and revise, layer, etc. :-D

When I put too much thought into writing, I tend to get blocked. Badly blocked. I do better when I just write (and then look up and see that several hours have gone by ... *sigh* lol), and this is especially true of openings.
